Sally's visit from WaterCare Week 2

Sally's WaterCare Visit
Monday Week 2, Term 3

To support our Inquiry focus on water, we had a special visit from Sally from WaterCare to talk to us about the importance of having clean water for the environment, and disposing of different waste products responsibly.

To imitate how water moves around objects and follows gravity, the children went outside and created their own landscapes out of rocks and plastic. Then we poured water on the landscapes to observe the lakes and rivers created by the folds of plastic.

It was interesting to see how different formations of rocks had different effects on the direction and speed of the water's journey.

Later, we joined with Room 2 to learn about what happens to food and rubbish when it goes down the drain and out into the sea.

We have learnt heaps about how important it is to protect our drains from getting filled with food, rubbish and other chemicals.

Touch Rugby Taster Week 1

 Touch Rugby Session

Wednesday Week 1, Term 3.

Room 5 got an opportunity to try some new touch rugby skills on the field.

They warmed up by placing different body parts on a ball, switching as fast as they could.

Then the trainer played octopus tag. The children had to practice running from one end of the field to the other with the ball in their hands, without getting tagged.

"We were really good at running with the ball!"
- Hiroto

"I run really fast" - Cruze.

Well done Room 5, you are making the most of new opportunities at Sunnybrae.
